IKEA PS - something different

The desire to experiment, to think differently is important at IKEA. We wanted our IKEA PS collection to be young, fresh and point to the future. So when we set out to create it we needed a fresh approach. We took our designers onto the factory floor in Poland to make their product sketches. We encouraged them to consider materials and suppliers that did not normally make home furnishing products.

You often find metal lockers in changing rooms. But in our world they became an ultra-modern IKEA PS cabinet.

One designer saw a fuse - the kind that was used on electric wires - and envisioned it as a candleholder. Another bright idea was to use laboratory glass to create products with a unique glass spiral shape.

It's exciting to take one thing and turn it into something completely unexpected. With IKEA PS, we are opening new doors and hope to continue to find a different IKEA approach each time.
