ÖGLA - almost perfect
ÖGLA was the perfect chair. Almost, that is. It was beautiful, strong,
light and practical. But its price was too high. We had to find
a way to make the chair so it could be packed flat to reduce cost.
In doing so, the product's high quality should not be sacrificed.
So we introduced a new technique into the furniture
industry. By injecting gas into composite plastic, we found we could
save on material and weight. Other cost-cutting ways were, not to
mention, speeding up the manufacturing process and designing it
in a way that allows it to be packed flat.
As a result, we created the next generation ÖGLA
chair. We had produced it in wood, then in composite, and now in
hollow composite. You can now buy ÖGLA at a lower price than ever
before without sacrificing quality and design.
By collaborating with our suppliers and always
seeking new production techniques, we can create many successful
IKEA products in the future.
