Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity is a key to success, diversity comes in all shapes and sizes.

Caring for People and Diversity & Inclusion is embedded in our vision and in our values. At IKEA, we see diversity and inclusion as the right thing to do. Recognising our co-workers’ differences contributes to creativity and supports our growth. We strive to have a diverse and inclusive work environment where co-workers feel valued for their uniqueness, recognised for their diverse talents, and where they can be themselves.

Simply put: we believe the uniqueness of every individual makes IKEA better!

Diversity comes in all shapes and sizes

We welcome all dimensions of diversity. A diverse workplace is good for our co-workers, for our customers and for our business. Working with differences helps us grow both as individuals and as an organisation.

Gender equality

We believe gender equality is a human right. Our ambition is to reach gender equality at IKEA, which goes beyond a 50/50 gender balance in all levels and positions. Gender equality is also about creating an inclusive culture where all genders are valued for their unique contributions.

As the members of the Equal Pay International Coalition (EPIC) and have pledged to secure gender equal pay throughout IKEA. At IKEA we believe that everyone has the right to be treated fairly and given equal opportunities, no matter what their gender is. Whatever the role or position, everyone at IKEA should expect to be paid equally for work of equal value.

Building a gender equal business means creating an inclusive culture where both women and men are valued for their unique contributions and are able to impact the culture of the organisation. Because when people have the same opportunities to grow everyone wins.

LGBT+ inclusion

As a humanistic and values driven company, we believe everyone deserves fair treatment and equal opportunities to develop, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. We aim to create a fully inclusive work environment where all our LGBT+ co-workers feel welcomed, respected and appreciated for who they are, and contributing to a positive change in all areas of our business and in society.

We are members of Workplace Pride Foundation and Stonewall, two organisations focused on LGBT+ inclusion in the workplace. That is also why we have endorsed and contributed to the UN Standards of Conduct for Business on Tackling Discrimination against LGBT+ people that was launched globally September 2017.

Building a gender equal business

At IKEA, we’re committed to reaching true gender equality. We believe that everyone has the right to be treated fairly and given equal opportunities, no matter what their gender is.

This means ensuring equal opportunities for both women and men, and reaching 50/50 gender balance in all countries, levels and positions, including boards and committees. We believe that greater gender balance benefits everyone. With our 50/50 commitment, we focus on having more women in predominantly male roles, as well as more men.in predominantly female roles. Whatever the role or position, everyone at IKEA should expect to be paid equally for work of equal value.

At IKEA, we believe in providing equal opportunities for all co-workers, ensuring fairness in compensation and advancement regardless of their position, age, gender, or nationality. We value the diversity of our employees and collaborate with social welfare organizations to hire employees with disabilities and people in recovery. By doing so, we support their integration into society and create an inclusive, equal, and a caring environment.

An inclusive workplace is a better workplace
