Lamp and shades
General, task and mood - three kinds of lighting for your home
With the right lighting, it’s easier to work, relax, catch up and wind down at home. A simple way to get started? Think in three layers: general, task and mood lighting. Then let them work together to light your way throughout the day.Task lighting
Task lighting is a must-have whenever you need to focus. Reading, chopping, working – this is the light that helps you see clearly and stay comfortable. Desk lamps, worktop lighting or a low pendant lamp all do the job, letting your eyes relax as you complete your task.
- Recommends light bulbs bright: 80-400 lumens.
Mood lighting
Mood lighting adds atmosphere to a room. Softer, warmer and often placed at a few different spots around the room – like table lamps or wall lights. Add dimmers or decorative lamps, and you’ve got just the right glow for winding down or having people over.
- Recommends light bulbs bright: 200-500 lumens, with dimming function.
General lighting
General lighting is your all-over, everyday light. Think ceiling lamps or spotlights that brighten the whole room. It can sit softly in the background or step up when you need it – like when you’re cleaning and want to chase down every last dust bunny.
- Recommends light bulbs bright: 800 lumens or more
